Maulaatona Faatemat uz-Zahraa AS states, "The traits of a true believer (Mu'min) are higher, more sublime, and distinct compared to other people." Adopting these qualities, traits and practicing them with firm conviction is not an easy task. Rasoolullaah Bawaji SAWS states, "Every human being's traits depend entirely upon their reliance on Allaah Ta'aala (Tawakkul) and the nature of their intentions (Niyyat)." One can assess a person's mental and practical purity through their traits. A few aspects of the pure Faatemi traits are described below.
(1) Generosity and Large-Heartedness (Sakhaawat, Dariya-dili): Possessing wealth is neither a sign of good fortune nor goodness. However, giving or spending it with the right intention, at the right time, in the right place, in the right amount, and for the right person is what truly constitutes generosity. The pleasure of Allaah Almighty is directly connected to generosity. Expecting praise and appreciation after showing generosity diminishes its spiritual reward (Sawaab). Uttering words or bodily expressions that show obligation (Ahsaan) or cause the recipient to feel humiliated and hurt their heart defeats the very purpose of generosity.
(2) Truthfulness of Tongue, Sincerity, and Speaking the Truth (Zabaan ni Sacchaai, Sadaaqat, Sidq-goi): The tongue is the reflection of the condition of a person's heart. A person's mind and thoughts can be read through his language, words, and conversation. The peace of the tongue lies in speaking the truth, and its affliction lies in telling lies and falsehood. The sweetness of the tongue is in truthfulness, and its bitterness is in deceit. A righteous tongue becomes a ladder for honor and progress, while an errant tongue becomes a pit of disgrace and downfall. Confession with the tongue is an essential part of a person's faith (Imaan). When the heart and the tongue are aligned as one, modesty will remain sustained on a person's face.
(3) Bravery, Courage, and Fortitude (Shujaa'at, Himmat, Honsalo): This is a trait that gives a person the power and strength to fight for the Truth (Haqq). No matter how powerful Falsehood (Baatil) or Satan may be, if a person possesses bravery along with a firm resolve to defeat falsehood, they will be able to face any circumstances. Regardless of how much time passes, they will confront the followers of falsehood with strength and steadfastness. This bravery will help them play a highly pivotal and key role in their personal life, as well as in business, social, and family matters.
(4) Loyalty (Wafaadaari): The strength of life's foundation rests upon the fulfillment of promises and trust. Every affair and custom of the world depends upon this. To support someone under all circumstances with truthfulness of tongue and clarity in conduct—standing by them shoulder-to-shoulder and being actively ready to help—is what constitutes loyalty. The very alternative name for faith (Imaan) is loyalty. The Master of Truth (Saheb-e-Haqq) recognizes his believers through their loyalty. Truthful people stand out among thousands of others. Those who lack loyalty resort to cunningness and deceit. They have sweetness and words of affection on their tongue, but their heart remains filled with weapons and poison. Such people do not deceive others; they only deceive themselves.
(5) Worship (Ibaadat): Worship is the spiritual radiance (Noor) on a believer's (Mu'min's) face because it contains the unparalleled dimension of prayer (Namaaz), which functions as the face on the body of the True Religion (Deen-e-Haqq). If a body exists but lacks a face, it remains incomplete and defective; the condition of religion without worship is exactly the same. A believer's body and soul perform worship in every possible way. Only when the worship of knowledge (Ilm) is united with the worship of action (Amal) do the intellect and soul become genuinely pure and immaculate. Action without knowledge, and knowledge without action, become wasted and meaningless; the relationship of worship with religion is of that very nature. A righteous faithful performs such deeds and acts with kindness day and night that are no less than worship itself. Thus, the entire life of a believer can be counted as worship. |
